Hello and thank you for the BTCNew plugin. It works very nicely, except for one problem. I noticed that BackType does NOT find comments that use my custom url shortener. Therefore, most of the discussions about our posts are not included. Do you have some suggestion? Thanks again.

Ciao, mi sono accorto che nello spam trovo i commenti già pubblicati direttamente sul blog dai visitatori reimportati dal plugin (in fondo c’è aggiunto il link “Questo commento è stato originariamente inviato su S. di vista.”)
Non è tanto che ha iniziato a farlo. Qualche idea?
Ciao S., scusa per la risposta in ritardo, e non precisa, purtroppo. Nel senso che non sono riuscito a guardarci approfonditamente, e per ora l’unica cosa che mi viene in mente è di controllare lo stato dell’opzione “Ignore comments on my own blog” nella pagina di configurazione del plugin. Io ce l’ho selezionata, e non ho notato problemi di sorta nei commenti.

I use BTCnew for a few years instead of topsy plug-in. I think it’s a great plug-in. However, recently it haven’t worked well for a few weeks.
Ive researched and I find three things as follows:
1. BackType catches tweets related to my blog articles.
2. Some persons say this plug-in works on WP3.1.
3. Tasks work on wp-cron.
So, I guess something happens on API functions or DB connections.
If this cause is the latter, It’s my fault.
Do you guess anything?

About your problem, could you take a look to your error.log to see if there’s some errors?

I am currently using wordpress 3.1, and decided to give your plugin a try.
Everything seems to work fine, except that comments from Reddit won’t show up on my blog.
Any idea why?
Hi, looks like there’s something wrong with the plugin. I just finished to set up another blog to test the plugin without breaking this one. I don’t understand what Backtype is doing with their API, it seems that something is changed internally, and what you see when you’re looking for reactions (from this page) is different respect what you get querying via API (one and two). As said, i’m taking a look to this problem, but if it’s really related to Backtype API, i can’t do anything :(

Looks like Backtype is unfortunately not completely reliable… Anyway, even if you’re not able to fix the problem, thanks for trying!
Ciao MC, ti risulta che btcnew sia inutilizzabile per caso? ho visto che hanno fatto alcuni cambiamenti sul sito di backtype ed effettivamente il plugin non importa i commenti (anche se i link sul sito di backtype alle api e su come usarle c’è ancora).

Ciao, confermo che il plugin ha dei problemi. Ho messo su un blog di prova per vedere di farlo andare con le nuove API, ma queste mostrano risultati strani, diversi da quelli che si vedono ad esempio guardando le URL reactions su backtype.com. Onestamente sono deluso da BT.
A chi lo dici, però sai cosa ho notato? che se vai sul sito BT per cercare a manella le reactions di un post non te le fa più vedere, ti rimanda a delle specie di tweet-analytics ma sono servizi a pagamento a quanto pare. :/

Hi, thanks for a great plugin!
I’ve been using BTCNew successfully for some time. However, in the last month or so all my Twitter comments arrive as ‘Anonymous’ and the URL looks like http://twitter.com//statuses/84212884263014400 – ie there is no Twitter ID/Handle.
This is happening on 3 separate sites with separate API’s. Any ideas? And would it be possible to reimport all the correct versions of the ‘Anonymous’ comments I’ve deleted?

since some weeks all tweets are only schowing like this: Anonymous says: January 1, 1970 at 1:00 am. Has twitter changed something so btcnew can’t get the real twitter account name and tweets?! Lokk at this: http://www.internetretailing.net/2011/06/habitat-name-sold-to-the-home-retail-group/ so not only i have this problem… Any idea what is going on?

We have same issue on our Blog, but we have already deleted all “Anonymous says: January 1, 1970 at 1:00 am” tweets from our site, so you can’t see any at the moment but all new tweets are like Joe’s and Tee’s description! Strange! What is happened?

We are using BTCNew 0.0.4.. has worked fine from Jan. 2011 till june 17. But now all tweets are from “anonymous from January 1, 1970″…

@bethany and others, there’s a very bad news. Backtype has been acquired by Twitter, then “The BackTweets product will now be offered to current users for free. However, as we begin to focus on our work at Twitter, we will not be accepting any new registrations for BackTweets, and we will discontinue the BackType product and API services.” Source: http://blog.backtype.com/2011/07/backtype-has-been-acquired-by-twitter/ .
